In any business, large or small, there are three elements that are critical to performance:

  • People must be able to do their job.  This means that they must have the Skills to perform the tasks that the business requires.  Asking people to perform tasks for which they are inadeqately trained is not fair on them and not good for the business. 
     
  • People will do better in an environment that supports their performance.  This means that the Systems and processes of the business must be at least adequate for the level of performance expected.  Too often companies allow their systems to fall behind their rate of growth, thereby putting their employees, and their business, at risk.
  • People should enjoy what they do.  This includes those who own and run the business.  Unfortunately, many people don't enjoy their work, often because they don't know how to manage Energy - theirs and other people's.
